Five teams of Greater Manchester bowlers battled it out last weekend in a bid to be crowned as GM fours champions 2023 and to gain a place at the prestigious ESMBA National Fours competition in April at Melton Mowbray Indoor Bowling Club.
The event took the form of ten games of eight ends in a round-robin format. There was a very high standard of bowling on display throughout the day and some very closely fought games, indeed the winning team was only decided on the last bowl of the last game, with first & second and third & fourth placed teams having to be split by shot aggregates.
Taking home the first place trophy and the title of GM fours champions 2023 was Angharad Brideaux, Peter Roberts, Paul Norbury and Angela Norbury (pictured). A very close second place was earned by J. Pajak, G. Jones, B. Nielsen & L. Greenhalgh and they were followed by:
3rd Place: B. Holbrook, C. Crowther, J. Crowther & C. Crowther
4th Place: S. Roberts, M. Anderson, D. Almond, A. Almond
5th Place: B. Hayward, A. Booth, B. McHugh, D. Walker
