It’s hard to believe we’re in 2025 already, but as the saying goes “time flies when you’re having fun” and we certainly had lots of fun in December, with not one but THREE thrilling competitions taking place at Etherow Indoor Bowling Centre.
The second weekend in December saw teams of four battle it out for the 2024/25 GM Fours champion title and in this event we saw team Steve Roberts, Mike Anderson, Charlie Copper and Garry Williamson take the win with teams Dave Almond, Annabelle Almond, Paul Norbury & Angela Norbury and John Pajak, Luisa Greenhalgh, Glyn Jones and Peter Thompson finish close behind.
The fourth weekend in December saw the Over 55 Pairs competition take place where 12 pairs of overs competed head to head until Kevin Lawley and Steve Rothwell emerged victorious narrowly snatching defeat from John Pajak and Louisa Greenhalgh with Mike Anderson and Steve Roberts hot on their heels.
Then to wrap up the month of December, Sue Banfield, Chris Banfield, Sheila Wilson and Stephen Wilson got their first ever GM trophy together as a team of four, pipping Angela Norbury, Paul Norbury, Annabelle Almond and Dave Almond in the Mixed Fours competition with team Andrew Bebbington, Heather Bebbington, Steph Tuckey and David Jackson following in third place.
Tonight will see the last National Qualifiers event of the season with the Under 18s playing games of singles against each other at Etherow IBC and we’re certain it will be an event worth watching. If you would like to come along and show your support, the games begin at 5:30pm.
